FAQ
About the Breezy Stove Fan
What is a wood stove fan?
A wood stove fan (also called a heat-powered stove fan) is a device that sits on top of your wood-burning stove. It uses the heat from the stove surface to spin its blades and circulate warm air throughout the room — no electricity, no batteries, and no wiring needed.
How does the Breezy Stove fan work?
The Breezy Stove fan uses a thermoelectric module (TEG) built into its base. When the base heats up on the stove and the top stays cooler, the temperature difference generates a small electrical current that powers the motor. The hotter the stove, the faster the blades spin.
What types of stoves is the Breezy Stove fan compatible with?
Our fan works on any flat-top wood-burning stove, including cast iron, steel, and soapstone stoves. It also works on multi-fuel stoves, pellet stoves, and gas stoves — as long as the surface temperature reaches between 122°F and 662°F (50°C – 350°C).
What temperature does the stove need to reach?
The fan starts spinning at around 122°F (50°C) and reaches optimal speed between 250°F and 500°F (120°C – 260°C). We recommend using a stove thermometer to monitor surface temperature and get the best performance.
Is the Breezy Stove fan noisy?
Not at all. The Breezy Stove fan operates at a whisper-quiet level (under 25 dB) — quieter than a library. You won't even notice it's running.
How much of a difference does a stove fan really make?
Customers typically report a 2 to 5°C (4–9°F) increase in room temperature within 15–30 minutes. By pushing warm air further into the room instead of letting it rise to the ceiling, you'll feel the heat faster and more evenly. Many owners also report using up to 20% less firewood.
Product Details
How many blades does the Breezy Stove fan have?
The Breezy Stove fan features a 4-blade design, which offers the ideal balance of airflow, quiet operation, and efficiency. You can learn more in our guide: 2, 4, or 6 Blades — Which Is Best?
What are the fan's dimensions and weight?
The Breezy Stove fan measures approximately 8.5" tall × 7" wide and weighs just over 1.5 lbs (700g). It's compact enough to fit on virtually any wood stove. For exact specs, visit our Fan Dimensions page.
Where should I place the fan on my stove?
Place the fan at the back or side of the stove top, near the flue pipe where temperatures are typically highest. Avoid the very center, which can sometimes be too hot. For detailed guidance, read our article: Where to Place a Wood Stove Fan.
Do I need more than one fan?
For most rooms up to 250 sq ft, one fan is enough. For larger or open-plan spaces, two fans can significantly improve heat distribution. Read more: Are Two Wood Stove Fans Better Than One?
